Learn the techniques of knotting, splicing, whipping etc using laid and braided rope, chain, and wire.

The following is a proposed programme into the future.

1. Sessions are based on the Maritime Rope Work Handbook. This can be found in the Members area of the Fleet Website.

2. YouTube demonstrations have been posted.

Access via a search on YouTube under Maritime Rope Work and links provided during the Zoom secessions.

3. Delivery is via Zoom discussion sessions. These will be a Q & A format with a planned key topic segment from a syllabus list. This gives you the ability to drop in and out to select the topic/s that interest you.

4. This is a practical operation, so always come to Zoom sessions with a piece of rope and tools. Some tools and rope are available through the SHF On-line Shop.  

If you are interested in joining in please register your interest by email at [email protected]. When you register also indicate which days/times would suit you for the Zoom sessions. The current sessions are on Wednesday evenings 6.00 to 7.00 ish.

There may be a need to have two or more sessions.
